Some philosophies in the long history of yoga stress the importance of a disciplined turning away from sensual experience and practicing various forms of austerity instead. Other, life affirming philosophies of yoga, recognize the value of practices that release and nourish a sense of delight in the experiences of physical embodiment.
In this session, we will look at an important text composed over a thousand years ago, known as the Vijñāna Bhairava, that presents various actual ways in which clear, attentive awareness of every-day experiences in our bodies can lead us to a sense of sublimity, joy, and wonder.
No previous familiarity with this text is necessary. All are welcome.
